RSSKirin - Regular Lineup Video Review When I walked up to the counter in the convenience store next to my house and handed them one of each kind of Kirin's beer, the girls behind the counter giggled a little bit. It was kind of a strange purchase, I agree. I opened and tasted the beer on camera then worked my way through the rest of the can, finishing each as quickly as I comfortably could before opening the next. I started with the top of the line and worked my way down to the lower quality swill, thinking that as the alcohol took effect the beer would get easier to drink. The problem is drinking that much beer in 40 minutes, despite getting intoxicated fairly quickly, fills you up and really kills your appetite for more beer. Especially bad beer. Nonetheless, I made it through all of them and here are the results of the taste test. Please enjoy. Eric:Did you spill beer on your shirt? n8:Probably, but I don't remember. Sam E L:for the pilsner beer the heartland or whatever daugey, heineken is a lager! n8:By definition, pilsner is a type of lager, a pale lager. Lager is the really the breweing style of using bottom fermenting yeast and keeping the beer in a cool, dark place. Yes, Heineken is a lager. It is often referred to simply as a pale lager because it is slightly sweeter than usual pilsners, but we can just blame that sweetness on it being Dutch. Their labels do say lager and they even produce another variety labled pilsner, which I heard isn't very different but haven't tasted personally. But really, the prominent hop taste and very pale color essentially makes it a pilsner. Besides, with a lot of modern lagers being pale, bland and easy to drink, the difference between labeling your beer as a lager and labeling your beer as a pilsner is more of a marketing one. True pilsners are either Chzech or German anyway. Josh:Way to take one for the team. That was very entertaining. If I remember right, the Nodogoshi is actually made from soy beans. Can you verify that for me? n8:I checked the label for the Nodogoshi and the main ingredient is in fact soy beans. Aaron:Just because it's a bloody awesome beer ad here in the Antipodes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv5U0W8FDDk add comment |
